Dear Parents/Carers
Home/Academy Agreement – Working in Partnership
Building a strong working partnership between home and the academy has always been a priority for us at Leigh Academy Wilmington. Our small school structure plays a key part in developing these partnerships alongside consistently implementing the policies that ensure our proven outstanding practice continues everyday. Our staff are unwavering in their commitment to maintaining and raising high standards of work, behaviour and attitude, and delivering high quality education to all of our students in a disruption free environment.
In return, all students and their parents are expected to observe the Academy’s expectations, standards and routines. The Home/Academy Agreement provides a framework for all stakeholders to use when engaging with each other, and provides additional support for building those strong working partnerships between the academy and home.
I must commend the majority of students and parents who support the ethos of our school community and work in partnership to ensure success. We are regularly complimented by visitors, external reviewers and educationalists on our provision.
Recently, we have noticed a minority of parents who deem it acceptable to persistently challenge the sanctions/decisions of the leadership team and who do not support our efforts to apply our policies in a fair and consistent manner. This is very disappointing: not only is it damaging to the partnership between parents and staff, but perversely this empowers negative behaviour in students. This is something we will not tolerate.
Please be aware that as your child attends the academy, the expectation is that they follow academy policy as outlined in the Home Academy Agreement. These agreements, adhered to by leaders, parents and students, are fundamental to a positive experience for all stakeholders.
We regularly review all of our processes and procedures to ensure they meet the needs of our growing community, and as a result, we have linked an electronic copy of the Home/Academy Agreement. Please take time to read this with your child, and if you have any concerns, comments, or questions, please email your college pastoral team and a member of the team will contact you to discuss this.
