World Book Week event

Dear Parents/Carers

Next week, Leigh Academy Wilmington will be celebrating our 11th annual, award winning, World Book Week event. This year the theme is “Leigh Academy Oz”, giving students the opportunity to compete in 12 Oz themed competitions and explore the world Baum created across his 14 novels. Tomorrow, Friday 27 February, students will be shown a presentation going through these challenges and other details about the week, in preparation for the event. Winners of each challenge will receive a prize and collect points for their Tutor group, with the tutor groups earning the most points also getting prizes at the end of the week.

Alongside the competitions being run, we have Sarah Ann Juckes visiting on World Book Day, Thursday 5 March 2026. Sarah will be running workshops with a handful of Y7 and Y8 students as well as a group of P16 students. Even if your child is not participating in one of these workshops, they will have an opportunity to meet Sarah and get a book signed during break time. If you would like to purchase a book through the academy, there is an option to buy one on ParentPay, alternatively, they are available to buy from most large booksellers.  The ParentPay description is Sarah Ann Juckes Books.

Kind regards
